mediation training
What is involved?
This is a five day course designed to meet the requirements of the National Open College Network Accredited Training programme. It will provide you with a basic introduction to the skills, knowledge and perceptual framework of a mediator. On completion, participants will understand how to set up and manage a mediation meeting between parties in dispute or as a result of a complaint.
We want this course to fundamentally change the way you think and respond to conflict in future. Whether you intend to develop and use mediation skills within your existing professional role, or whether you see this as the first step to becoming a professional mediator, we want you to become as excited as we are by the opportunities conflict presents for greater understanding and positive change in families, communities and organisations.

What happens next?
As a professional mediator, your skills will develop within a structured process, initially under observation and then under supervision. As you continue to practise and to learn, you will develop your own style and techniques.
If you decide after this course that you want to practice as a mediator, we will offer whatever support we can in finding opportunities for practise and supervision to enable you to complete this journey. And if you just want to gain sufficient understanding of mediation to enhance your existing work we will stay on hand to provide expert advice and supervision when needed.
