community
a confidential and effective method of resolving community or neighbourhood disputes. Our mediators specialise in helping residents, neighbours and communities to resolve issues such as noise, parking, boundary disputes, high hedges, problems with gangs and other forms of anti -social behaviour. Community mediation is a form of community restorative justice.
what to expect
community mediation is a voluntary process which gives all parties a chance to express their views and to be heard. A mediated agreement leads to outcomes decided by the parties, rather than by police or housing officers. Mediation can provide a way forward where there are no legal remedies. The process can be applied between two individuals – such as in a boundary dispute – or involve the whole community. This used to be known as community conferencing but is increasingly referred to as restorative conferencing.
our track record
mediation works has been resolving community disputes for over 10 years. We have worked with many different situations - some involving whole neighbourhoods. We have been pioneers of restorative justice, where victims, offenders and community members meet to decide how to do repair the harm caused by antisocial behaviour and crime. Our results are excellent– over two thirds of our cases reach full or partial agreement.
